'Uthman ibn 'Affan (RA) In-Depth Study | Dhun-Noorayn: Possessor of the Two Lights | Ages 12+ | 19 Pages
Uthmān ibn 'Affān (RA) married two of the Prophet's ﷺ own daughters, one after the other — a title no one else in Islamic history holds: Dhun-Noorayn, Possessor of the Two Lights. He was so modest that the Prophet ﷺ himself covered his knees out of respect the moment 'Uthmān walked in. He bought an entire spring, the Well of Rūmah, for 3,500 gold coins and gave the water away free to the whole Ummah, forever — a waqf that arguably never stopped running. He equipped an entire army for Tabūk out of his own wealth and was told by the Prophet ﷺ himself: "nothing you do after today will harm you." He carried a message into hostile Makkah alone at Hudaybiyyah, was rumoured dead, and the Companions pledged to fight to the death over the rumour of his loss. He became the third Caliph, expanded the empire further than any before him, built the first Muslim navy — and was martyred in his own home, Quran open in his hands, while his wife lost her fingers trying to shield him.
This Resource studies his generosity, his humility, his leadership, his legacy and his martyrdom.
