Saudah bint Zam'ah In-Depth Study | Seerah of the Sahabiyat | Ages 12+ | 10 Pages
Saudah bint Zam'ah is one of the most quietly remarkable women in the seerah. Widowed after two migrations for her faith, she married the Prophet ﷺ. She was tall, funny, warm — the wife who laughed when Aishah (RA) splashed her with food, who joked about long prayers, who once hid in a room full of cobwebs at the mention of the False Messiah, making everyone laugh, herself included. And when age made her worry the Prophet ﷺ might release her from marriage out of kindness, she did something almost no one does: she gave her night to Aishah (RA), asking only to remain a Mother of the Believers in the next life. Allah revealed an ayah about it (4:128).
